See below for details and links. :) ~Ms. Hlina This is an exciting time of year for Grade 12 students, and many will want to know more about the next steps in the application process. In this issue, we’ll give you tools to help you advise newly admitted students. Application Timeline We encourage you and your students to review our application timeline to gain a better sense of what transpires at UBC throughout the spring! Access to on-campus student housing Did your students self-identify in their UBC application? If not, please have them contact Chett Monague or Monika Wilson at [email protected]. Indigenous students who self-identify in their UBC application will get priority access to on-campus housing. The housing application deadline is May 1 for both campuses. Learn more about student housing on the Vancouver Student Residence and the Okanagan Student Residence websites. UBC Aboriginal campus tours If you’re interested in visiting UBC, the UBC Aboriginal Tours Program offers free walking tours of both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. These tours are for Indigenous students, parents, counsellors, or Indigenous community groups. Tours are led by a current UBC Aboriginal Student Ambassador, who will highlight student life, talk about the supports and services offered to Indigenous students, and answer your questions. Tours can be booked according to your schedule, and you can plan additional activities at UBC to complement your tour. To book a campus tour, please email Monika Wilson at [email protected]. Destination UBC events Our Destination UBC events are an opportunity for newly admitted students to visit campus for a weekend-long program before classes begin in September. They’ll meet other first years, plus get the chance to talk to professors, current students, and staff. And most importantly, they’ll make friends and begin to form their new UBC community. Indigenous students are eligible to have their travel costs covered by UBC.
