We're reading The Marrow Thieves in English 9, and I've booked Nathan Wilson (some of you may know Nathan from visits to other classes, especially in Elementary school, or elsewhere) to come during Flex to tell us about the ritual of smudging, and offer a smudge in the courtyard. (Note: this is an image from a Google Search, not from Nathan Wilson, and may not resemble Thursday's smudge) Please sign up for Flex in my room (109) for THURSDAY, Dec. 19th, if you're interested in attending and learning (the actual smudge is optional). I hope to see some of you on Thursday! This is both an educational and cultural experience, and Nathan gets booked quickly, so it's great that he's available to do this. :) Do you like Science? Science World? On Monday, January 13, 2020, Science World is hosting their Indigenous STEM Day event from 4-7pm. This is a FREE event, and dinner is included, but registration is limited. Come and hear amazing Indigenous Speakers, participate in fun science workshops, and meet Indigenous STEM University Students and Industry professionals. You (students and parents/guardians) can register at the link below: http://cedar.ubc.ca/camp-registration/indigenous-stem-day-at-science-world/ |
New Position:This is a new position to SDSS and most other secondary schools in our district. As such, it's going to be a work in progress, and there will be a lot of learning for me, too! Archives
