An invitation for Indigenous students from South Delta Secondary to apply to attend the 16th annual [ https://www.uvic.ca/services/indigenous/community/mini-u/index.php ]Indigenous Mini University Summer Camp (Mini-U) on campus here at the University of Victoria from July 8 – 12, 2019.
Mini-U is a week-long summer camp that gives Indigenous high school students from across BC the opportunity to live on-campus for five days and experience what it’s like to attend a university. Students will attend academic and cultural workshops, visit local communities to learn from Elders and community members, enjoy sporting activities and learn about the supports and opportunities available to Indigenous students in Victoria. Participants will stay in dorm rooms on campus and will be chaperoned by staff 24/7 throughout the week. Mini-U is absolutely free with the exception of a $50 non-refundable registration fee upon acceptance to the program. The University of Victoria will cover accommodation, meals and associated program costs. If the $50 registration fee is a barrier for any student who is accepted and wishes to attend, we are happy to accomodate. While we are unable to provide transportation to Victoria, our team is happy to pick up students at the airport, ferry or bus station in Victoria and transport them to campus. The deadline to apply is FRIDAY, JUNE 7th @ 4:30pm. For more information, please visit the [ https://www.uvic.ca/services/indigenous/community/mini-u/index.php ]Mini-U webpage.
